Up & Over Installation

What is an up & over installation?

An “up & over” installation refers to running the refrigerant pipes, electrical wiring, and/or drainage pipes from the indoor unit, up over a structure (like a wall or ceiling), and then down to the outdoor unit. This method can be used when direct drilling through a wall is not feasible, or when aesthetic considerations require a more concealed installation.

In some cases, there is no way out for the condensation water from the indoor unit to flow out and down per the gravity. In these cases, a condensation pump may be required to pump the water out through the roof space etc. The condensation pump will cost from $250 extra depending on the type of the pump needed.

Electrical Work for the aircons
  • First option: We’ll use the power from a nearby existing RCD protected circuit for the air-conditioners from 2.5kW to 3.5kW. We can connect to it either by tapping into the power source of a nearby air-conditioner or by using a power outlet included in a standard installation.
  • Second option: We’ll install a new safety switch and a circuit for the air conditioner, connecting it from the unit to the main electrical switchboard. The cost ranges from $250 to $550 and will be confirmed after assessing the specific requirements on-site. This quote is for homes with a single level, easy roof access, and a tile roof, with a power line distance of up to 20 meters through the ceiling. This installation is necessary for larger air conditioners ranging from 5Kw to 8Kw and is included in the mentioned installation prices, which might change based on the complexity of electrical work required.”
