What is a side entry installation?

A “side entry” installation for an air conditioner typically refers to the installation type where the refrigerant lines, electrical wiring, and drainage pipes run out of the room through the side wall, as opposed to going straight through the wall to the back, behind the indoor unit. This type of installation can be useful for aesthetic reasons or when the direct path is obstructed or not viable.
